Abstract

950,344. Stackable and nestable containers. BIBBY & BARON Ltd. Nov. 15, 1962 [Oct. 17, 1961], No. 37139/61. Heading B8P. A fibre-glass packing container closed by a lid 2 tapers slightly from top to bottom to facilitate nesting and has a hinged flap 7 in one of its sides whereby the container can be filled or emptied. Five legs 3 are provided on the base to assist transportation by fork-lift truck and also to ensure that when the containers are nested within each other, the inner one projects above the outer one for easy removal. The lid 2 has raised socket portions 4 corresponding in position to the five legs 3 and is clipped on to the container by a rim 5 on the lid co-operating with a rim 6 on the container. In an alternative embodiment, the container has only four legs, the legs being reinforced by ribs extending therebetween, the lid being socketed to correspond. The container has a reinforcing strip of mild steel round the upper rim. A pair of latches secure the hinged flap 7.
