Abstract

1,269,060. Silos. TARMAC CIVIL ENG. Ltd. 19 Sept., 1969 [31 Oct. 1968], No. 51654/68. Heading B8S. A silo for cement includes a polythene tubular member 11 and a steel base member 12, the member 11 being supported by circular bands 19 secured to upright tubes 18 which telescope into tubes 17 mounted on a flange 13 of the base 12. Legs 16 are secured to the tubes 17. Cement is received into the silo through the aperture shown at the top and support is given to member 11 by ropes 21 secured to the top of member 11 and at the bottom being wound on cleats 23. The ropes enable the height of the silo to be adjusted. By making the container 11 of plastics material of such inherent flexibility that the container will extend upwardly automatically as material is fed into it, the ropes 21 may be dispensed with.
