1,268,815. Phloroglucinol derivatives. ORSYMONDE. 23 April, 1970 [30 April, 1969], No. 22118/69. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I (including salts thereof) where R 1 is Me or Et, R 3 is H, C 1-4 alkyl optionally hydroxy substituted or is aralkyl and n is 1, 2 or 3, excluding 3-(3<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP>-dimethoxphenoxy)-1- isopropylamino-2-propanol, are made by reacting II with an appropriate alkoxy substituted phenol in the presence of caustic soda and subsequently reacting the resulting oxirane, e.g. 3- (3<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP>-diethoxy -phenoxy)-1,2-propylene oxide, with R 3 NH 2 . Pharmaceutical preparations having cardiac, anti-anginal and sedative effects and having activity to block α- and #-adrenergic effects contain I as active ingredient; administration is, e.g. parenterally.
