[Also in Divisions B8 and F2] A tensioned wire winding 2 as used in reinforcing concrete pressure vessels is upset at point(s) near its end to produce attachment buttons suitable for transmitting tension to an anchorage 7. As shown a winding unit 1 tensions the wire 2 except for the forward section 2<SP>1</SP> where two portions 3, 4 are upset e.g. by cold working. A tensioning unit 5 then stresses the section 2<SP>1</SP> and the wire located to be held by button 4 in the anchorage 7 in a recess 8 on the wall of a groove 6 in which the winding lies. Alternatively, Figs. 3a, 3b (not shown), a single attachment button 4 may be formed in the section of tensioned wire 2 to the rear of the unit 1 and the wire, anchored as before. During the winding operation the unit 1 may move around 'the vessel on which the winding is being laid. A packing shim (10) and washer (9) may be located between the attachment button 4 and the anchorage 7 (Fig. 5, not shown). Alternatively (Fig. 7, not shown) the attachment button may be located in an annular wedge (12) fitted into a recess in the anchorage 7. In a further embodi-. ment the annular wedge may be replaced by a screw threaded sleeve (11) which is adjustable relative to the anchorage 7 (Fig. 6, not shown).
