Abstract

1,267,571. Helicopter rotor mountings; propellers. ZAKLAD DOSWIADCZALNY PRZYWYTWORNI SPRZETU KOMUNIKACYJNEGO. 25 March, 1969 [28 March, 1968], No. 15643/69. Headings B7V and B7W. A joint between an aircraft propeller blade or a helicopter main rotor blade and a root end fitting 11 includes a spar core 1 which is reinforced by flanged bushes 5 and 6 embedded in a plastics material filling space 8, and is enfolded by layers of fibre-glass cloth 2 wound so as to form a suitable cavity for bundles of load carrying fibres 7. The load carrying fibres 7 improve the transmission of loads from the blade skin to the bushes 5 and 6 and thence to pins 9 and 10. Several layers of fibre-glass cloth 3 are diagonally laid over bundles 7 and cloth 2 to improve transmission of twisting moments. The root end fitting 11 is held to the blade by the pins 9 and 10 and nuts 15.
