Abstract
1,267,266. Coated metal panels. PENNWALT CORP. 26 Jan., 1970 [28 Jan., 1969], No. 3659/70. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] Polytetrafluoroethylene coatings are formed on a substrate by applying to the substrate an aqueous dispersion of polytetrafluoroethylene containing, as a stabilizer, a water-soluble ammonium chromate salt or a mixture of a water-soluble ammonium chromate salt and water-soluble ammonium phosphate salt, the ammonium chromate salt being present in an amount of at least 0.5% by weight based on the weight of the dispersion, drying the coated substrate to deposit the polytetrafluoroethylene thereon and heating the substrate to cure the deposited polytetrafluoroethylene. In the Examples steel and aluminium panels are coated. These may be used as primer coats and a further polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion applied as a topcoat.
