Abstract

1,266,177. Hinge assembly. R. HEINZE Jnr. [trading as RICHARD HEINZE], 28 March, 1969 [19 April, 1968; 5 Nov., 1968], No. 16255/69. Heading E2F. A hinge designed to have a maximum pivot angle of between 150‹ and 180‹ and to be used for supporting a door in an article of furniture comprises a base plate (4) securable to an article wall and supporting a slide fitting (5), a hinge member (13) having one end engaged in a guide of the fitting pivotally and for sliding movement parallel to the wall, when the box plate is secured to the wall, and the other end pivotally connected (21) to a door fitment (23) insertable in the door close to the junction between the wall and door, and a cranked link (27) pivoted at one end (28) to the slide fitting, pivoted to the hinge member between (26) the hinge members ends and pivoted to an end (29) of a lever (30) pivoted (31) to the door fitment. Fitting 5 may have side flanges embracing base plate 4 and the hinge member 13 may have side flanges 17, 18 embracing the slide fitting. The one end of the hinge member may be engaged with the slide fitting by means of two balls 15 seated in hinge member cups 14 and in slide fitting guide grooves 16. The hinge member side flanges may terminate in hooked-shaped ports carrying pins 21, 26. The door fitment may be secured to the door by means not visible from the outside of the door, for example by projecting ribs which bite into the door on insertion of the fitment, and by a screw passing through a hole in an inclined wall, which hole is accessible from the inside of the door. The position of slide fitting 5 may be adjusted by positioning wedge 9 of the fitting in one of the base plate notches 10, and by adjusting screws 6, 7.
