Abstract
1,265,698. Filling press dies. MANNESMANN-MEER A.G. 30 Sept., 1969 [2 Oct., 1968], No. 47898/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] A die in a platen 1 of a powder compacting press, is filled from an open bottom filling shoe 23 which linearly reciprocates in sliding contact over the upper platen surface between positions displaced from, and over the die, whereat the shoe 23 then moves in an elliptical filling orbit whilst in filling communication with the die. The elliptical movement of the shoe 23 in the filling position is obtained from a crank-pin 16 of an arm 14, which rotates on a shaft 12 carried by a support 7, and the connecting-rod 19 whereof carries the shoe 23 at its other end and is mounted intermediate its end at a pivot pin 25 which is linearly slidingly displaceable in the support 7. The shaft 12 is rotated by a motor 9 attached to a housing 6 fixed to the support 7 The linear reciprocating movement of the shoe 23 into and out of its filling position is obtained from a cylinder 3, the piston-rod 5 whereof is connected to the housing 6 to slidingly displace the support 7 within guides 8 mounted to the platen 1. The pin 16 is positionally adjustable within a slot 15 of the arm 14. The shoe 23 is carried by a yoke 22 pivotally supported at 21 by the rod 19, whereby the shoe 23 is freely movable about perpendicularly related horizontal axes to follow irregularities in the platen surface over which it slides and against which it is urged by a spring 32 mounted on the pivot-pin 25.
