A hinge comprises a longer and a shorter link 15, 18 each pivotally connected at one end to an upper bracket 13 attached to a vehicle hood 11 and, at the other end, to a lower bracket 14 attached to the body structure 10 and a stay 22 pivotally connected at one end to the link 18 and having a hook 23 engageable with the lower bracket 14 to hold the hinge open. The hook 23 slides over the upper edge of the link 15 as the hinge is opened or closed.
