Abstract
1,265,495. Feeding sheets. RICOH K.K. 25 Feb., 1969 [6 March, 1968], No. 10005/69. Heading B8R. [Also in Divisions F2 and G2-G3] Original and copy sheets 6, 6a are passed into a copying machine by entrainment between a moving belt 5 and a roller 8. When the leading edge of the sheets trips a microswitch 12, roller 8 is retracted out of contact with the sheets, and at the same time its direction of rotation is reversed. Thus if the trailing edge of sheet 6 has a tendency to curl, as shown, it is straightened by the reversely rotating roller 8. A series of such rollers 8 are provided, of resilient material, and mounted on a common shaft 9. Shaft 9 is drivingly connected to shaft 4, which drives the belt 5, by respective friction wheels 10, 11 on the ends of the shafts, which wheels engage each other as shown in Fig. 4. A belt 16 also connects the two shafts, but in the Fig: 4 position is loose and inoperative. When microswitch 12 is tripped, an electromagnet 13 is energized, which raises shaft 9, and hence wheel 10 is drawn out of contact with wheel 11. Transmission between drive shaft 4 and shaft 9 now takes place via the belt 16, which has been drawn taut (Fig. 5, not shown), shaft 9 now rotating in the opposite direction (see Division F2).
