Abstract

1,141,076. Delivery. CIBA Ltd. 6 July, 1966 [6 July, 1965], No. 30408/66. Heading B6H. A stripper device for separating two superimposed sheets 4, 5 comprises (a) a rotatable feed cylinder 1 (b) a rotatable shaft 2 spaced from and axially parallel to the feed cylinder (c) an outwardly projecting elastic flap 3, 3a mounted on the shaft 2 (d) a switch 13 actuable by the sheets when at least a part of the sheets have passed over the cylinder (e) drive means for rotating the shaft 2 one revolution when the switch 13 is operated whereby the flap 3a presses the sheets against the cylinder 1 and is deformed, Fig. 3, such that the sheet 5 continues but sheet 4 is buckled backwardly and diverted into a different path, Fig. 4. The flap 3a may be extended across the whole width of the cylinder or may comprise a number of separate flaps. The drive means comprises, a sprocket wheel 7 with a flattened section such that when the switch 13 is operated an electromagnet 9, Fig. 5, energizes and the toothed part of sprocket engages a continuously moving chain and the shaft 2 makes one revolution. A spring 8 maintains the chain in contact with the sprocket wheel during its rotation. The gap between the cylinder 1 and the hub part 3 of flap is about twice the thickness of the flap and the distance between the point of contact of the sheets with the cylinder 1 and the switch feeler is equal to or just less than the radius of the flap 3a.
