A member 2 adapted to discharge a sweet X in the direction of arrow A from an endless conveyer belt 1 is blocked from moving if the sweet X does not sufficiently complete its travel on the conveyer. The sweet X normally abuts a feeler 13 and moves this into engagement with a stop 22. This causes anticlockwise (as seen in Fig. 1) rotation of an arm 15. A comb member 10 carried by the latter is thus moved out of blocking relation with a member 9 carried by the pusher 2. The latter is thus able to move under the action of a spring 8 as permitted by a cam 6. Another spring-urged cam-controlled member 23 carries a wedge-shaped member 24. This will normally pass between a member 14 carried by the feeler 13 and a surface 20. If however the feeler has not been sufficiently deflected by the sweet X, the wedge surface of the member 24 engages a correspondingly inclined surface on the end of the member 14 and thus rotates the feeler in a direction opposite to normal and hence the blocking member 17 is moved into a more positive blocking position. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the member 14 is carried by the member 17.
