1,265,310. Nails, studs or pins for cartridge actuated tools. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. Ltd. 3 Nov., 1969 [22 Nov., 1968], No. 55507/68. Heading F3A. [Also in Division F2] An anchoring member assembly, for use in a cartridge actuated tool of the type in which a piston moves a considerable distance before engaging the anchoring member, comprises a nail, stud or pin 1 surrounded in whole or in part by a compressible expanded plastics material. As described, pin 1 is coaxially surrounded by a cylinder of expanded polystyrene extending substantially the whole length of the pin, but leaving the head 4 and point exposed and a washer 3 abuts the cylinder adjacent the point. The head, if small, may be substantially covered by the polystyrene cylinder and the washer omitted (Fig. 4, not shown).
