Hunting-gear. - The steam inlet and exhaust valves of an intensifier are controlled by usual bunting-gear, the connexion between the gear and the inlet valve being automatically broken when the hunting-gear over-runs the valve and automatically re-established when the steam piston returns to the commencement of its stroke. In the example shown, a lever K pivoted on the spindle of the steam inlet valve A, has a portion K<1> so shaped that it remains in engagement with a pin C<3> on a lever C against the action of a weight K<2>, so long as the pin C<3> exerts an upward pressure. When the hunting-gear over-runs the valve, the portion K<1> moves out of engagement and the valve A closes. When the steam piston is returned to the commencement of its stroke, a weight E<6> forcing a roller into contact with a cam-bar E<4> acts through connexions E<1>, N, M', M, L<2>, L, L<1> to force the portion K<1> back into engagement with the pin C<3>.
