Grates; fuel-economizers.-A grate with an imperforate floor a is fitted at the back with a forwardly-projecting perforated air chamber b to which air is admitted from below through an aperture d. The imperforate floor may be corrugated. The air chamber is preferably formed by a removable plate as shown, but may be formed in one piece with the floor and back. A damper may be fitted to the aperture d.
