1,264,718. Cable stripping apparatus. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd. 20 Oct., 1970 [6 Nov., 1969], No. 54403/69. Heading H2C. Insulation stripping apparatus consists of fibre glass stripping wheels 19 mounted on a pair of arms 15 and arranged to rotate in mutually opposite directions by a system of pulleys driven by a motor 12. A flat cable 35 consisting of a parallel array of conductors 36 encased in an insulating medium 37 is supported by a movable work-table 29, and a slot 32 in the table allows the rollers to pass over both sides of the cable, thus stripping the cable as the table is advanced. A tensioning arrangement for each roller consists of a compression spring 26 loaded as required by a thumb screw engaging a tension lever 20. Each roller is positioned by turning a nut 24 on a threaded member 22 which is pivotally connected to the free end of an arm 15. The work-table 29 is supported for movement towards the rollers by bearing blocks 30 acting on guides 31. Single-sided stripping may be effected by one roller only acting on the cable, the other side of the cable being protected by a reinforcing plate.
