Abstract

126,419. Curran, C. J. April 4, 1918. Channels in ball bearings. -The chuck jaws h of a lathe or like machine are attached to a rod e in the hollow spindle c, normally pressed to the left to close the jaws by a spring 2 acting on collars at one end and on the flange n of a sleeve m at the other end. To release the work, the rod e is pressed to the right by a screw u acting through a ball thrust-bearing s, and operated by levers &c. The ball thrust-bearing s is lubricated from a grease cup through holes in the screw u and the bearing.
