1,264,061. Trueing grinding wheels. W. FERD KLINGELNBERG SOHNE G.m.b.H. 12 June, 1970 [4 July, 1969], No. 28527/70. Heading B3D. A device for trueing a grinding wheel for a worm or thread grinding machine comprises a carriage 10 displaceable radially of the grinding wheel 30, two mutually crossing two-armed levers 18a, 18b mounted for rotation about a journal 17 on the carriage, each lever acting at its two ends on respective sliders 23a, 23b, 24a, 24b guided for transverse movement in the carriage, the sliders at the ends of the levers adjacent the grinding wheel carrying trueing tools 29a, 29b, and the sliders at the other ends of the levers carrying feeler knife edges 26a, 26b engaging templates 32a, 32b adjustable about perpendicularly disposed axes 36a, 39a, 39b. The carriage is vertically displaceable by a piston- and-cylinder device 13, 14 and carries the journal 17 on which the levers 18a, 18b are mounted. The lower ends of the levers have a pin-and-slot connection with the sliders 24a, 24b, each of which carries a trueing diamond tool 29a, 29b. The upper ends of the levers are similarly connected to the sliders 23a, 23b, each of which adjustably carries a knife-edged feeler 26a, 26b, the edge of which is curved. The templates engaged by the feelers have straight knife edges and are adjustable in the horizontal direction to vary their spacing according to the width of the grinding wheel and are adjustable about the axes 36a, 39a, 39b to determine the included angle of the wheel and to cause the trueing tools to move in a straight or curved path for forming convex or concave sides on the wheel. A further tool 54 for trueing the edge of the wheel is carried by an arm 53 connected to a sleeve having a helical slot 55 engaged by a pin 56 on the rod 50 of the piston whereby the tool is oscillated across the wheel upon movement of the piston 13. The cylinder 14 is formed in a body 12 having a screw-and-nut connection 62, 63 with a frame 59 and operable by a belt 61 driven by a motor 60 for rapid feed or by pawl 64 and ratchet for moving the body stepwise.
