Abstract

1,263,321. Web forming apparatus. DIFIBRATOR A.B. 25 Feb., 1969 [7 March, 1968], No. 10052/69. Heading D1N. A web is formed by flowing a main fibrecarrying gas stream through a wire screen 14 to deposit fibre thereon, flowing additional gas (via duct 62) into the stream between the lowermost portion of the forming chamber 10 and the wire 14, and returning the gas and dust particles (via ducts 32, 36, 52, 56) through at least one conduit to the feed side of the forming chamber together with new fibrous material admitted through a sluicing device 42-50. A first branch stream (via duct 60) is separated from the main stream and the fibrous material present therein and is recirculated to the main stream to dilute the fibres therein. A second branch stream is sucked off from the main stream (via duct 62) and is used as the additional gas. As shown, cyclones 34 and 58 are used to separate the fibrous material from the gas streams. A pressure equalisation chamber 38 for the ducts is open to the atmosphere. The gas can be hot flue gases from a defibrator.
