Abstract

1,263,292. Feeding sheets. PARNALL & SONS Ltd. 2 Jan., 1970 [2 Jan., 1969], No. 172/69. Heading B8R. A pile of sheets 10 is supported on a table 10 raised by an electric motor 39 through a crank 37 under the control of a roller 21 sensing the level of the top of the pile. The sheets are separated one by one from the top of the pile by a toothed and perforated endless belt 14 which passes under the open side of a vacuum shoe 17, so that a sheet is separated when a perforation starts to pass under the shoe. If two sheets are separated together, the lower sheet is drawn down on to a reversely-rotating hollow suction drum 25, which returns it to the pile. Air from nozzles 42 is directed on to the front of the pile to assist separation. The separated sheet is fed by the belt to feed rollers 19. Suction may also be applied to stationary ports in a guide surface 24 to assist the drum 25.
