Abstract

1525698 Feeding sheets DE LA RUE CROSFIELD Ltd 13 Aug 1976 [19 May 1975] 21149/75 Heading B8R A pile of sheets N is supported between front and rear walls. 1, 3, with the front end of the pile supported on a lip 2 of the wall 1 and the rear part on bars 5, two of which are formed of concave portions 6, and' sheets are separated from the pile and fed to rollers 9, 9<SP>1</SP> by a suction cup separator 15, which in operation is first moved rearwardly to form a loop accommodated in the portion 6 and move the leading edge clear of the lip 2, and then downwardly and forwardly to separate the sheet. Suction is applied to the separator by a bellows 38, and released when the sheet reaches the rollers. Separation is assisted by a uni-rotational roller 13. Cams on a drive shaft 24 control the movement of the separator, the roller 13, and the bellows and also the reciprocation of a block 46 carrying a piece 47 of piled fabric with an upwardly angled pile, which engages the rear edge of the pile through the plate 3 and moves upwards to relieve the pressure during separation.
