Abstract
1,262,657. Central heating systems. COMPRESSION JOINTS Ltd. 22 Jan., 1970 [2 Nov., 1968], No. 52032/68. Headings F4A and F4U. A water and/or central heating unit 30, Fig. 2, comprises a water supply tank 31 having a feed water cistern 12, an insulated hot water cistern 33 housing a heat exchanger 36 for indirect heating of the water therein and a boiler 37 which is connected by a riser duct 17 to a header tank or terminal manifold 11 mounted on a level with the cistern 12 and having an inlet duct 13, Fig. 1, opening into the cistern. A one-way self-closing valve formed as a flat disc 18 seating on an annular rim 19 surrounding a central aperture of a fixed plate 16 towards the lower end of the tank 11 allows unobstructed flow from the riser duet into the tank under pressure and a small aperture 20 in the disc permits weep flow from the tank into the riser duct when the valve is closed.
