Abstract

1,262,456. Tank mounting. VICKERS Ltd. 28 March, 1969 [29 March, 1968], No. 15298/68. Heading B7S. A mounting which suspends a cylindrical tank 10 holding noxious materials in a ship structure comprises an upstanding rigid structure rectangular in plan and formed by transverse bulkheads 1, 2 and longitudinal bulkheads 3, 4, the tank being suspended over and clear of the base of the compartment formed by the bulkheads. An intermediate supporting structure 7 secured to the bulkheads and to the tank is such that it surrounds the tank, is attached to the lower parts of the tank and extends upwardly and outwardly towards the bulkheads. The upper portion of the tank is held in spaced relation to the bulkheads by panting plates 8. In the embodiment shown the intermediate supporting structure is conical in form. In others, it may be of pyramidal form or a lattice framework.
