Abstract

1,261,203. Tip-up seats. PEL Ltd. March 10, 1969 [Jan.24, 1968], No.3654/68. Heading A4B. A tip-up seat comprises a seat 17 pivotally mounted on a bracket 19 attached to a back rest 18, and a support 10 which comprises a tubular member 12 which is connected to the bracket 19 by a pin 24 and slot 14. An arm rest 28 may be pivotally mounted on the bracket. When the seat is in use, rollers 25 rest in notches 13 of the supports and rollers 16 engage in notches (27) in the respective brackets. To fold the seat, seat portion 17 and arm rest 28 are folded up, Fig.2 (not shown), and the whole assembly is lifted relative to the supports 10 causing roller 26 to move upwardly in slot 14 until the rollers 16 and 25 are clear of the notches 27 and 13, Fig. 3 (not shown) and the seat 17 and back 18 are lowered to a horizontal position Fig. 4 (not shown). When unfolding the seat the rollers 16 run on the curved portion of the bracket 19.
