Abstract

1,261,123. Electric couplings. AMP Inc. 10 Aug., 1970 [18 Sept., 1969], No. 45988/69. Heading H2E. A connector for a flat cable is designed with an inclined roof 4 in each passageway to urge the tangs 11 of the contact 7 into electrical engagement with a corresponding conductor of the cable on insertion of both into the passageway. A shoulder 5 is provided to limit inward movement of the contact. In another embodiment the floor and roof of the passageway are inclined inwards and each provided with a shoulder to retain the contact. The contacts may be provided. with arms which fit into recesses in the passageway to retain the contact.
