Abstract

1,261,006. Textile relaxation; shrinking fabrics. KOMATSU SEIREN CO. Ltd. 27 Jan., 1970, No. 3781/70. Headings D1L and D1S. The relaxation, the shrinking or the craping of a textile web 21 is carried out in an apparatus consisting of a reciprocally rotatable cylindrical rotor 2 provided with paddles 5, this being in a trough 1 with a semicylindrical bottom concentric with the curved surface of the rotor. This bottom is provided with projections 3. The material 21 is, as a result of the shapes of the paddles, these being of triangular cross-section in the embodiment, moved by the reciprocating rotor in the direction of arrow 7, the side 5b of each paddle meeting the treating liquid at an acute angle whereas side 5a is substantially perpendicular to the rotor surface. The effect of the paddles to crumble the fabric is aided by the presence of the projections 3, these being of triangular cross-section as shown.
