Abstract

1,260,757. Rotary valves; lubricating. E. LAMPERTI. March 4, 1969 [March 9, 1968], No. 11416/69. Heading F1B. A two or four stroke or diesel engine comprises a rotary valve integral with an axially extending shaft supported in bearings 5, 14, Fig. 1, resiliently loaded annular seals (26<SP>1</SP>, 41) Fig. 8 (not shown) in recesses in the radially extending surface adjacent the cylinder and wall and in the side cylindrical wall of the valve, a lubricant feed from a channel in the shaft, with the recesses and a gap between the valve-member and the cylinder head, the rotary valve-member including a channel for communicating with an outlet channel (28<SP>11</SP>) and means for adjusting the gap dimensions. The duct 9 registers with a lubricant inlet duct (10) Fig. 3 (not shown) as the valve rotates. Port 2 registers sequentially with an inlet duct, a duct leading to a spark-plug and an exhaust duct. In another embodiment the gap dimension is adjusted by a screw 39, Fig. 5 against the force exerted by a cup spring 49. In another embodiment the hole communicating with the spark-plug hole is in a cylindrical flange projecting downwardly from the rotary valve.
