Abstract
1,260,636. Knitting-machines. NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. 20 Oct., 1970 [26 Jan., 1970], No. 49818/70. Headings D1C and D1K. A multi-station circular machine comprises a welt dial whose bits are projected prior to a first station by a cam 31 to engage knitted loops and then retracted to an inactive path 60, and which is provided with a cam 61 to move the bits radially inwards to a second inactive path B. Cam 61 is located after the last station to permit sufficient courses of the weft to be knit without strain. Retraction of the bits carries them beneath the serrated cutter ring, out of range of in-or out-going ends of yarns introduced during the welt e.g. different coloured yarns at the fold.
