Abstract

1,260,053. Knitting-machines. WILLIAM COTTON Ltd. 13 Oct., 1970 [18 Oct., 1969], No. 51271/69. Heading D1C. The draw mechanism of a straight-bar machine comprises two draw cams S1, S2, effective during rib, and man-rib work respectively and a common draw lever 10 and linkage. The followers are arranged to be moved relative to the cams or vice versa, or separate followers for each cam are effective as required. In the arrangement shown follower rollers 2, 3 carried by levers 16, 17 are shifted at the dictates of control discs 18, 19 via linkage and a control 25. Load on the rollers 2, 3 is relieved at change-over by a slave roller 73. The linkage includes a rocking rod 26 lockable in two positions. In an alternative embodiment (Figure 14, not shown) the cams are axially movable on a drive shaft (91) by means of two axially movable, but otherwise stationary, pegs (85, 86) engaging a cam (89) on the cam axle and moving it accordingly when raised selectively. In a further embodiment (Figure 13, not shown) each cam has its own follower levers (7, 7') selectively coupled to the draw lever by links (75, 75').
