Abstract

1,005,486. Knitting-machines. G. EPPINGER, H. EPPINGER, and W. EPPINGER, [trading as GOTTLIEB EPPINGER K. G. MASCHINENFABRIK]. 1 April 1964 [June 21, 1963], No. 13458/64. Heading D1C. A multiple feed double-cylinder circular knitting machine forms heels and toes in oscillatory operation and is characterised in that during this operation two knitting stations are used of which the needle jack lowering cams 6, 6a which are operative during the forward and reverse travel alike are triangular so that the knitting points of the forward and reverse travels 7, 11 and 7a, 11a almost coincide. Each station has associated with it a thread guide 30 which changes from a feed position 22 to a feed position 23 or vice versa at the reversal point of the oscillatory movement of the needle cylinder. The yarn guide is moveable about an axis 37 by a lever 39 against the action of a spring 37c, the lever 39 being controlled by the main cam drum of the machine. During reciprocatory knitting the cams 15, 15a, 18, 18a are axially moveable out of operation in order that jacks 12 may move in an upper cylinder machine track 19. The yarn guide 30 is moveable into and out of operation by a compressed valve 35, Fig. 3 (not shown). To facilitate two feed reciprocatory knitting an extra double picker 28 is added on cam 9.
