Abstract

1,260,002. Crimping yarn. SPINN-UND ZWIRNEREIMASCHINENBAU KARLMARX-STADT VEB. 14 May, 1969, No. 24626/69. Heading D1F. In a yarn-crimping machine comprising a stuffer-box and a heat-setting chamber constituted by a peripheral groove 1 in a rotatable heating wheel 2 covered by an endless belt 3, the groove has an enlargement 10 at its upper end and a constriction 12 at its closed end. Loose, crimped yarn 11 in the groove is thus exposed both in the upper portions of its two lateral sides facing the enlargement and at a portion of its side facing the bottom of the groove. At the exit end of the chamber, a fixed doctor finger 13 protrudes into the constriction 12 to lift yarn 11 from the groove and direct it, via roller 5 to a cooling device 9 comprising a chamber 15 having cooling fins (14) or air slots 16 and a suction duct 17. In a multistation machine, all the electrically heated wheels are arranged coaxially in juxtaposed relationship and are driven in alternate directions from one wheel to the next and are alternately fed with and discharge yarn on opposite sides of the machine.
