Abstract

1,259,497. Two-part couplings. KIN KWOK BAKELITE ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES MFY. Ltd. 19 March, 1969, No. 14501/69. Heading H2E. In a combined plug and socket connector 1, plug contacts 4A, 4B, Fig. 2, are disposed in axial alignment with respective socket contacts 12, Fig. 3, in a two-part housing 2, 3, plug contacts 4A and their associated socket contacts 12 being directly connected to screwclamp terminals 9A, and plug contact 4B being connected to its associated socket contact 12 and a screw-clamp terminal 9B via a cartridge fuse 19 located in a recess 16 in housing part 3 accessible from the outside of the housing. A cable from an appliance enters the housing through an aperture 8 and its wires are connected to terminals 9A, 9B, while housing part 2 comprises shuttered apertures (not shown) which register with socket contacts 12 to receive the contacts of a further plug connector. A fuse-engaging contact 20 is connected by a conductor 23 to plug contact 4B, and a second fuse-engaging contact 17 is connected to terminal 9B and thence via a conductor 15 to the corresponding socket contact 12, which is insulated from plug contact 4B by an L-shaped insulating strip 24. A cover 25 for recess 16 comprises an apertured boss 26 for accommodating the fuse 19.
