Abstract

1,259,338. Timber shear. HARRINGTON MFG., CO. 12 Nov., 1969, No. 55359/69. Heading A1E. A timber shear comprises a jaw 101 and a cutter 112 driven by hydraulic piston 118 and cylinder 120. The jaw 112 may be mounted on a vehicle. The jaw consists of upper and lower plates which diverge from the vehicle mounting end towards the free end, spacing plate 104, on the inside edge of the jaw, against which the cutter co-operates, spacing plate 108, nose 106, and reinforcing members 110. A member 138 is provided to protect the jaw against falling trees. Wedge 142 protects yoke 124 and pivot 126 when the blade is driven through a tree. A guide means 128 mounted on the blade 112 co-operates with the arcuate edge of the jaw 130. The blade and jaw are pivoted together by pivot (114) Fig. 4 (not shown), which lies on the hydraulic cylinder side of line (A-A) defined by the inner edge of the jaw 101. Skids may be provided on the underside of the timber shear.
