Abstract

1,059,191. Sawing. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. March 9, 1965 [May 8, 1964]. No. 9995/65. Heading B5L. A chain saw bar 10 comprises a centre spacer member 11, a guide plate 12 positioned on each side of the member 11 and extending beyond the member to provide a groove between the plates for receiving a saw chain 13, a wear strip 15 within the groove for slidably supporting the saw chain, and a retainer 16 extending from one or both of the guide plates for retaining the strip against movement with the chain. A wear strip is provided in both the upper and lower grooves of the saw bar and each end of each wear strip has an inclined surface (30, Fig. 4) engaged by retainers (16) extruded from one or both guide plates (12). The retainers extend inwards from the plates a spaced apart distance so that they are not engaged, and thereby worn, by the supporting centre links of the saw chain.
