A stenter machine frame 11 of the type having a plurality of rails 12 connected endto-end and each of which includes (a) side-byside channels 13, 14 in which an endless chain (not shown) runs and (b) working and return tracks 15, 16 having upright bearing surfaces 19, 20 for rollers carried by stenter clips attached to the chain, is characterized in that the rails 12 are pivotally connected end-to-end and the pivot axis 26 lies in the plane or planes of the upright bearing surfaces 19 of adjacent tracks 15. The pivotal connection between adjacent rails 12 comprises a hinge member 23 mounted on the frame 11 through cooperating dovetail slide members 21, 22. The member 23 has a stepped annular bearing groove 24 which cooperates with two halves of a concentric stepped annular bearing ring 25, one of the halves being connected to each of the adjacent rails 12. The adjacent surfaces 19 are connected by a flexible steel insert 27, Fig. 4, supported by a member 28 adjustable by screws 29 and which prevents the insert 27 being deflected by the rollers by more than a predetermined amount. Guide bars 30, Fig. 1, are provided in the channel 14 at the connection of adjacent rails 12 to engage the return run of the chain to disengage the rollers from the surface 20 as each stenter clip approaches the connection of adjacent rails 12.
