Abstract

1295844 Felling trees HARRINGTON MFG GO 14 Nov 1969 55915/69 Heading A1E A timber shearing device hydraulically operated by cylinder 38 comprises a jaw member 10 having upper and lower plates 12, 14, a blade 20 pivotally mounted to move between plates 12 and 14 towards a jaw face 16, and a member 46 attached to the upper plate 12 of the jaw member and extending from the jaw member such that its edge provided with a reinforcing strip 50 parallel to the edge of blade 20 when in the open position. The member 46 grips one side of the tree and if the blade sticks it provides leverage for removing the blade. A support framework 25 to which the lower jaw is attached by pivots 28 is provided with upstanding posts 26, 32 to which hydraulic cylinders 34, 36 are attached for raising and lowering the framework.
