Tables, slides, and carriages.-Relates to a grinding - machine, or other machine-tool, of the kind in which the work-table is carried by a knee-shaped support vertically and rotatably adjustable on a vertical standard. The knee 3 has a split part 4 adapted to be clamped to the standard 2, and, to provide for accurate vertical guiding in one angular position, a keyway 6 is provided in the standard adapted to receive a key 8 located in a groove 7 in the knee, and carried by the strap 11 of an eccentric 10, which is rotatable by a handle on the spindle 9; the key may thus lie partly in the keyway and partly in the groove, or may be retracted to lie wholly in the groove. The knee may be moved vertically by rotation of a hand-wheel 24, the spindle of which carries a bevel-pinion gearing with a bevel-gear 21. located between jaws 18 and having a long hub 14 adapted to screw on a screw 13. This screw has at its lower end a shoe 15, which rests on and fits over the edge of a circular flange 16 on the standard and carries a roller 17: the screw thus cannot rotate but is movable round the flange with the knee.
