Abstract

Recoil, modifying.-Consists of a muzzle attachment having a depending chamber beyond the muzzle, the action of the gases on the bottom of the chamber counteracting the tendency of the muzzle to jump upwards. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the attachment is screwed to the barrel and has a depending chamber 1 closed at the bottom by a detachable hemispherical plate 12 and provided at the top and front with a slot 14 for the escape of gases and with an aperture 16 for the bullet. In a modification, Fig. 6, the attachment has a flared tube 20 extending in front of the chamber.
