Abstract
1,258,175. Fluorescent discharge lamps. GTE SYLVANIA Inc. 5 Dec., 1969 [5 Dec., 1968], No. 69587/69. Heading H1D. [Also in Division H2] A circular fluorescent lamp 10 has a base 12 bridging its adjacent ends, the lamp having a pair of lead-in wires extending from each end thereof, each wire being force fitted by a tool into the slot 26 of an associated contact pin member 18 in the base. The base comprises a holder part 16 and a cap part 14, the holder part having a spaced pair of walls 20, each having a pair of bores 24, slotted to correspond to the pin slots, formed therein in which the contact pin members are located. Apexes of vees 22 may be provided to guide the lead-in wires 28 into the slots, corresponding vees then being formed in walls (30, 32, Fig. 3, not shown) of the cap, these walls lying two (30) between the holder walls and two (32) adjacent the outer faces of the holder walls to contribute to the retention of the wires within slots. Pairs of pins 34 and 33 engage in corresponding holes 40 and 36 respectively to locate and polarize the cap to the holder and pairs of tongues 42 on the cap latch on lips 44 of the holder to lock the cap and holder together.
