Abstract

1489569 Shuttered electrical socket J A CRABTREE & CO Ltd 10 Oct 1974 [20 Oct 1973 28 June 1974] 48990/73 and 28731/74 Heading H2E An electric socket comprises a shutter 24 which on insertion of one pin or like article through an opening 18 in the face plate 6 pivots about a cylindrical portion 28 causing shoulder 36 to engage with an interior surface of opening 20 so preventing the shutter from opening, while simultaneous insertion of two pins moves the shutter against spring 46 so allowing the pins to engage terminals 14 and 16. In an alternative embodiment the cam surface 134, Fig. 4, is less than half the width of the associated opening 118 or 120 into which it partly extends (Fig. 3, not shown) and is received on opening the shutter in a slot (140) extending laterally from each opening on the interior of the face plate (106). On insertion of one pin a shoulder 136 engages with one of two recesses (142) extending the full width of the face plate (106).
