Abstract

775,350. Lamp-caps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 15, 1954 Sept. 15, 1953], No. 26772/54. Class 38 (1). The lead-in wires 13, 14 of a tubular discharge lamp themselves constitute terminals for the lamp and are led through a passage 12 in an embossment 11 of each insulating lamp base and then bent over to lie in grooves 20 and cavities 18, 19. The wires are anchored by forcing them into recesses 20<SP>1</SP> in the bottom of the grooves 20 or insulating wedges or cement may be employed, or all anchoring means may be omitted if the leads are stiff enough. The grooves are deeper than the diameter of the wire to prevent accidental touching of the wires. The lamp bases co-operate with the lamp holders of Specification 775,351. In another embodiment (Fig. 7) lamp bases for co-operating with the lamp holders of Specification 775,352 have square passages 62, 64 for the lead-in wires which are bent over to lie in grooves 66 and terminate in a passage 63.
