Abstract

1,257,868. Detecting the end of a pulse train; interdigital pause detectors. COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANTS Ltd. 18 May, 1970 [17 Feb., 1969], No. 8544/69. Headings H3T and H4K. A circuit for detecting the end of a pulse train e.g. a telephone dialling train, comprises a capacitor 16 chargeable through two resistors 20, 18, a diode 19 across one resistor and a transistor which in response to the pulses discharges the capacitor through the diode and the other resistor. As shown, when the dialling train has ceased there is time for the capacitor to change sufficiently to render 21 and 22 conducting and operate a Schmitt trigger 13. The diode 19 shunts resistor 18 during discharge to rapidly reset the circuit and resistor 20 limits the discharge to a safe value. The circuit is suitable for use in a call recording system for producing a signal at the end of the dialling train for routing the next train to a different register, counter or print wheel.
