A method of constructing a twin hull ship comprises launching the pair of hulls 1, 1<SP>1</SP> temporarily connected together at 4, then separating them, next moving them apart to the required relative positions, and finally reconnecting them by a permanent structure. During this operation the hulls are interconnected by a pair of beams 2 secured to hull 1<SP>1</SP> and guided in members 3 secured to hull 1, winching gear 6 being provided to move the hulls apart. The final alignment is effected by sets of hydraulic jacks (9), Fig. 5 (not shown), which move the beams in members 3.
