Abstract

1395886 Ship docks HYDROCONIC Ltd 8 Sept 1972 [1 Sept 1971] 40852/71 Heading B7S Docking apparatus for ships comprises a quay or dockside arm having an outer end for latching on to a socket on a ship and capable of longitudinal contraction or extension thus transmitting compressive and tensile loads to the ship. Preferably, the arm 11 comprising a telescopic hydraulic ram mounted on the quay to rotate on a fixed base 33 is elevated or lowered by ram 36. At the end of the arm 11 is mounted a hydraulically operated pincer assembly 21, or a rotary notched disc 26, Fig. 11, for engaging a bar 15, Fig. 7, of a socket 14 on the ships hull. Each latching station has a plurality of vertically spaced latching points on the ships hull.
