Abstract

1,257,444. Tea dryer. S. PAREEK, and J. K. BOROOAH. 10 March, 1970 [12 March, 1969], No.11422/70. Heading F4G. A tea drying machine comprises sets of sectorshaped perforated trays R mounted in horizontal circular configuration inside a housing C into which hot air is fed tangentially via inlet F, wherein each tray is attached to a central rotatable shaft G with a boss H, and each can tilt about a radial axis and is mounted on, or hinged to, radially disposed rods pivotally mounted in boss H and ring B. Trays R during their rotational movement are kept horizontal by a second ring A in which there is at least one cut-out portion having a downwardly sloping flange A 1 , at which point a passing-over tray is allowed to tilt and deposit tea on to the trays below. The top trays are scraped by a downwardly depending scraper attached to the cover on the housing, and the dried tea exits through a shoot E 1 .
