Abstract

1,257,168. Casting processes. FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd. 16 June, 1969 [19 June, 1968], No. 29200/68. Addition to 1,105,028. Heading B3F. [Also in Division C7] In a process for the production of cast iron there is placed in a mould, prior to pouring, a body comprising a conditioning agent for the cast iron dispersed in a medium of a wax or a substance having the physical characteristics of a wax. Suitable conditioning agents include ferrochromium, ferromolybdenum, ferrotitanium, tin, boron, bismuth, antimony, cobalt, tellurium and selenium and suitable waxes include beeswax, carnauba wax, montan wax, paraffin wax, stearic acid and stearic alkyl esters. Finely divided iron may be mixed with the conditioning agent.
