Abstract

1,256,763. Powder metallurgy. SINTERMETALLWERK KREBSOGE G.m.b.H. July 23, 1969 [Aug. 20, 1968], No.36982/69. Heading C7D. A method of coining a sintered metal blank in which the sintered blank is pressed between a punch and a die, the dimensions of the die transverse to the direction of movement of the punch and die being longer than those of the blank, so that on compaction, free flow of the blank occurs transverse to the punch, die movement. The pressing operations may be repeated to form the blank into the required shape which may then be resintered. A powder mixture of 95% Fe, 4% Ni, 1% zinc stearate is compacted and sintered at 1250‹C. to a density of 7À4 g/cc. On repressing in a die allowing outward flow the density is increased to 7À77 g/cc.
