Abstract
125,603. Lorkin, W. L., (trading as Equipment & Engineering Co.). Sept. 2, 1916. Projectiles.-Relates to bullets made with a front part of hardened steel and a rear part of soft metal such as copper or bullet composition, and consists mainly in making the nose of the steel front part in the form of a flat conical punch. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the steel front part b has a shank a of smaller diameter surrounded by the soft metal c, which may be screwed or pressed over the shank. A clearance may be left between the rear end of the shank and the soft metal c. The flat conical point may be covered by a hollow cap d of thin copper, brass, or 'papier mÔchÚ; or a soft-metal ring may be disposed around the neck b<2>. When no cap or ring is used, the tapered body b extends up to the flat conical point.
