Projectiles.-Relates to projectiles adapted to resist deformation due to the shock of discharge, and consists in surrounding a core of a single piece of soft metal by an envelope of hard metal with a pointed head, and a base strengthened. either by being covered with a cap, or by being closed in, or by a combination of the two methods. In the forms shown, the outer case a is of cupro-nickel. steel, or similar metal, and the core c is of lead, tungsten, or other heavy metal. Deformation on discharge is prevented either by a strong metal base cap d, Fig. A<6>, or by sharply curving in the base walls g, Fig. B<3>, or by a combination of these two methods, as shown in Fig. D'. A narrow driving-band is formed as a rib b on the case n or cap d; or a separate driving-band may be provided.
