Abstract

1,256,003. Flushing toilets automatically. OMRON TATEISI ELECTRONICS CO. 17 June, 1969 [5 July, 1968; 8 July, 1968], No. 30673/69. Heading E1C. A toilet is flushed automatically via an electric switch, mounted on a support for the toilet seat cover, which switch is operated by the cover when it is raised. The switch may be a reed switch, when the cover incorporates a magnet for actuating the switch, or it may be a proximity switch operated by a metallic object on the cover. The supply of flushing water is controlled by an electromagnetic valve 14 which is actuated, via an electric circuit Fig. 3 (not shown) either for a period following the actuation of the switch and for a period following the restoring of the switch to its original position, or only for the latter period. The support for the cover may take the form of a rod 16 carrying a switch at its extremity, or of a housing (41), Fig. 5, (not shown).
